Archiving Data for Long Retention Periods
Do you need to archive data or keep backups over periods longer than 60 or 90 days? If so, here is a simple strategy to manage that efficiently with Global datavault:
Select “Retention Policy” and set an “advanced retention policy” as follows:
- Type = Daily; Number of copy to keep = 30
- Type = Monthly; Frequency = Day 1; Number of copy to keep = 3
- Type = Yearly; Frequency = Date 01-01; Number of copy to keep = 7
This will allow you to keep:
- All files available within the last 30 days
- All files available on the 1st day of each month within the last 3 months
- All files available on the 1st day of each year within the last 7 years
The parameters are flexible and you can build a plan to suit your exact requirements. You can even have different retention policies for different types of data by creating additional backup sets.
The benefits are:
- longer retention for compliance purposes
- efficient storage
- lower cost
Global datavault allows you to keep versions of files for many years. And our flexible policies can meet any compliance needs - all while helping you manage efficiently at the lowest possible cost.
