DVD and Offline Backups
The best way to make DVD copies of your backups is as follows:
- Open Global datavault Online Backup from the System Tray
- Create an additional backup set and select the same files that your normal backup set contains
- Create a schedule for this extra backup – most people use once per month on the 1st of the month
- Select [Local Copy] under your backup set from the left panel
- Check the [Copy to Local Hard Disk] checkbox
- Enter a directory to where you want an extra copy of your backup files to be stored in the [Copy to] field provided (preferably a directory under another hard disk)
- An extra copy of backup will be saved in the [Copy to] directory once each month when this backup job
Then to burn DVDs, proceed as follows:
- Open Windows XP Backup. (Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Backup.)
- The Backup or Restore Wizard starts by default, unless you disabled it. If the Backup or Restore Wizard does not start by default, you can still use it to back up files by clicking the Tools menu, and then clicking Backup Wizard.
- In the Window that asks “What do you want to do?” Click the circle next to Back up files and settings. Then click “Next”.
- Click “Let me choose what to back up”. This option takes you to the Items to Back Up. Choose the directory you used in [Copy to] above.
- Under “Choose a place to save your backup” browse to your DVD drive.
Global datavault can burn DVD copies of your data and ship them to you on a monthly schedule. Additonal fees apply.
