Password Changes or Forgotten Passwords
By default, the data uploaded to an account is encrypted using the account’s password. If that password is lost or forgotten, then the data encrypted with that password will be unrecoverable because the key is lost to decrypt the stored data. For the security of the data, Global Data Vault does not store changed encryption keys or changed passwords.
If you have lost your password and you do not need to restore your data, you will either need to create a new account or create a new backup set with your new password. In the event you create a new backup set rather than a new account, please run a test restore to be sure you can decrypt and recover the data after you have made your first successful backup. If you have lost your password and you do need to restore data, please contact technical support. Without a valid password, it is likely that the data will be unrecoverable. If you wish to change your password, please contact technical support prior to doing so to discuss options.
