Remote Backup

A remote backup is a copy of a data set which is stored at a remote location for security purposes. The benefit of having remote backup is it protects the business in the event of a site disaster, such as a fire, flood, tornado, earthquake, or tsunami, etc. It is generally recommended that remote backup be located at least 50 miles from the site where the primary backup is stored, as such; a disaster affecting the primary site will not likely also affect the remote backup site.
