Frequent Questions About DRaaS

DRaaS FAQ: What is Veeam Backup?

Veeam Backup is the industry-leading backup tool for virtual machines. It supports forward and reverse incremental backups, full and synthetic full backups, as well as backup copy jobs to send local backups to our remote data center infrastructure.

What is Veeam Cloud Connect?

Veeam Cloud Connect is a major enhancement introduced in Veeam Version 8. Cloud Connect enables more efficient structuring of remote repositories in our data centers and eliminates the need for Virtual Private Networks which are both expensive and complex. This need is solved by using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption for moving data to our data centers.

What is Veeam Software?

Veeam Software is the company that makes the industry’s best tool for backup and replication of VMware and Hyper-V virtual servers. Veeam was founded in 2006 and supports over 150,000 customers worldwide.

What is Veeam Endpoint Backup?

Veeam Endpoint Backup is a tool for allowing users to backup physical machines, including laptops and desktops. It integrates with Veeam backup and replication, and integrates with Microsoft VSS, to provide application level and file system consistent backups.

What is Veeam Enterprise Manager?

Veeam Enterprise Manager is a tool to enable management of backup and recovery jobs across a number of Veeam Backup servers. Groups in IT who are responsible for different areas of the organization can manage recovery of decentralized functions. For example, mail administrators can manage Exchange backup and restore while database administrators can manage Microsoft SQL Server related functions.

What is Veeam Replication?

Veeam Replication is the new capability in Veeam Version 9 that enables near real-time replication of virtual servers to our remote repository. It includes an instant-on recovery capability. Veeam Replication is a breakthrough in providing high availability at a lower cost than previously imagined.

What is Veeam Backup Proxy Server?

The Veeam Backup Proxy Server coordinates backup jobs and schedules, and handles the actual movement of data. The Proxy Server performs the compression of the data and moves it to the backup repository.

What is Veeam ONE?

Veeam ONE is a configuration assessment and measurement tool that enables planning for and correctly sizing the local backup repository, understand the bandwidth requirement, and properly size the remote recovery environment. Veeam ONE includes monitoring and alerting, backup reports, and over 200 and customizable alarms.
