Server Shipment
The Box
If available, please use the original server box received from GDV. Otherwise, choose a box with enough room for at least 5 inches of cushioning material around each side of the server. If you’re reusing a box, cover up or black out any old labels and markings.
Cushioning
Wrap server in bubblewrap at least 5 inches thick on all sides. Do not forget to pack any rails (if permanent return), USB cords, or assocaiated power supplies. Pack additional cushioning around the server to fill any gaps within the box. Close and gently shake the box to see whether there is enough padding. Add more newspaper, packing foam, or plastic cushioning material if you hear things moving around. WARNING: Inadequately packed boxes can result in movement and damage to the server within. It is important that there is no movement in the box when sealed.
Sealing
Tape your box shut and reinforce all seams with packing tape. Use clear or brown packaging tape, reinforced packing tape, or paper tape. Do not use cord, string, or twine because it gets caught in mail processing equipment.
