Goodbye 2020, Hello 2021

2020 was quite the year. Many cheered its departure, and as 2021 ushers in the hope of better days, we welcome what’s on the horizon. While last year brought new challenges, it also offered the opportunity to pivot how we do business, enforce our security layer against rampant network attacks, and to bring a higher level of service to our customers who made monumental adjustments at the same time.

Welcome 2021

Global Data Vault swiftly adapted to a remote work environment as the pandemic broke, assisting customers and partners who were in lockstep. We continued to enhance our services despite our physical distance and were pleased to experience another year of growth in our Veeam® Backup and Replication businesses, disaster recovery-as-a-service, and ever more heightened interest in our ability to combine security operations with cloud data management.

Bright spots amidst the pandemic included receiving several accolades: our 10th consecutive year as an LSU 100 Honoree and our second successive year on the Inc. 5000 list. We are honored and continually humbled as we recognize that we could not continue to receive these types of recognition without our customers, partners, and dedicated employees.

LSU One Hundred

The imminent threats from malware and hackers’ sophisticated attacks on backup files and cloud repositories were significant in 2020. As such, we ramped up our Enhanced Data Protection offering to add security measures as an option for all of our customers. We are committed to combating these threats through our proprietary technology and partnership with BitLyft Cybersecurity. We showcased these unique capabilities at several virtual conferences and trade shows, began our monthly webinars series, and regularly posted new blog content.

Like all things 2020, GDV sought new ways to connect. Our “Cajun Christmas” celebration in December took a virtual flavor, opting to share a court-side seat for a culinary face-off of our resident chef and newest contender. We paired this blockbuster event with a collection of our favorite traditional holiday recipes (download it here or request a paper copy here). It’s definitely worth a few minutes of your time to watch the GDV “Chopped” challenge event as it unfolded. We think even Iron Chef Bobby Flay would approve.

Looking Ahead to 2021

Like most companies, we welcome a return to a more “normal” state later this year, and we find great encouragement in Americans being vaccinated daily. For now, our outreach continues its focus on virtual efforts, including monthly webinars and online events. Internally, we lean deeper into our customer-first approach to improving our services, security defense, and making your cloud data solution the assurance you need when disaster strikes. The anticipated release of Veeam’s Backup & Replication™ v11 promises many new features to implement, and we look forward to extending the added value to you.

We recognize the many challenges everyone continues to face in this tumultuous climate, and we wish for health and safety for everyone. Feel free to reach out if we can assist with your 2021 cloud strategy.
